Riverside path flooding

Infrastructure Mishaps #1

Forming part of National Cycle Route 6, our riverside path is a brilliant asset to Derby—possibly one of the best cycle routes the city has to offer … when it’s not flooded.

Cycling infrastructure can be a decisive factor of whether a person cycles or walks. Having unpredictable and badly designed infrastructure like this will make some people avoid active travel entirely.

Local authorities need to take urgent action against this. Is it any wonder that Derby scored 1 on a scale of 0–4 in this year’s active travel capability ratings?

To make cycling appealing it must be convenient, affordable and enjoyable. If you have to decide between an open water swim and a ride on a 60 mph carriageway, people will ditch the bicycle immediately.
